K. Głowicka, „Unknown, I Live With You”

This opera-performance or opera-installation, as the creators themselves refer to „Unknown, I Live With You”, was inspired by poems by Afghan poets – personal statements, in which the voice is not bound or deformed by husbands, fathers, brothers, relatives or the media. The authors – Roya, Meena Z., Fattemah AH and Freshta – took part in the Afghan Women’s Writing Project, called into existence to encourage women in Afghanistan to express their stories through word and short stories. The majority participated in the event in secret. Their poetry, raw and frequently shocking, conveys the universal truth about the life of women seeking freedom in an extremely patriarchal society. The installation – for three singers, a string quartet, electronica and dancers (with Spanish conducted Pedro Beriso heading the entirety) – is a joint work by director Krystian Lada and composed Katarzyna Głowicka.
