Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha

A soloist of Kraków Opera, where she made her debut in 2001 with the role of Queen of the Night in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte”. She has performed over forty leading roles in operas, operettas and musicals in fifty premiere and festival productions as well as in opera theatres in Poland and abroad. She made her debut in the National Opera in Warsaw with the role of Lucia in “Lucia di Lammermoor” by Gaetano Donizetti. Her roles include Rosina (“Il barbiere di Sivigliaby Gioacchino Rossini), Gilda (“Rigoletto” by Giuseppe Verdi), Roxanne (“King Roger” by Karol Szymanowski), Fiorilla (“Turco in Italia” by Gioacchino Rossini), Zerbinetta (“Ariadne auf Naxos” by Richard Strauss), Violetta (“La traviata” by Giuseppe Verdi), Olympia, Antonia, Giulietta, Stella (“Les Contes d'Hoffmann” by Jacques Offenbach), Norma (“Norma” by Vincenzo Bellini). She has repeatedly toured Austria, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland, performing in the most famous European concert halls. She has made numerous CD and archival recordings for radio and television, including the very rarely performed Concert for soprano and orchestra by Tadeusz Zygfryd Kassern. For DUX label, she recorded an album “Per Due Donne”. Katarzyna Oleś-Blacha runs a solo singing class at the Music Academy of Kraków. She earned her PhD in the musical arts in 2006.
