Tomasz Cyz

Director, essayist, graduate of the Faculty of Directing at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. Author of operas, dramas, radio plays and performances for children, including “Luci mie traditrici” by Salvatore Sciarrino (Nostalgia Festival, Poznań, 2009), “Rusalka” by Antonín Dvořák (Grand Theatre in Łódź, 2010), “Maddalena” by Sergei Prokofiev (Wielki Theatre in Poznań, 2011), “Passion” based on “St Luke Passion” by Krzysztof Penderecki (Warsaw, 2013), “Passio” by Arvo Pärt (Krakow, 2014), “Rodelinda” by George Frideric Handel (Warsaw, 2015), “The Bravest Knight” by Krzysztof Penderecki (Wrocław Opera, 2018), “Clarissima” (Zakopane, 2014), “Moja pierwsza śmierć w Wenecji” [My First Death in Venice] (Dramatic Theatre in Warsaw, 2015) by Justyna Bargielska, “Po wygnaniu” based on poems by Czesław Miłosz (Proxima Nowy Theatre in Krakow, 2017), “Gypsy Tales” according to Jerzy Ficowski (Polish Theatre in Warsaw, 2017).

He works with The City of Literature Foundation. Author of poetic performances: “Ginczanka’s Room” (featuring Maria Dębska, 2016) and “Tranströmer’s Room” (featuring Krzysztof Globisz, 2018). Author of books on opera (“Arioso”, “Powroty Dionizosa”, “Pasja 20,21. Powroty Chrystusa”), creator and author of the Dwutygodnik.comon-line culture magazine, editor-in-chief of the monthly “Ruch Muzyczny” since 2013.
