Róbert Pechanec studied piano at Zilina Conservatoire with Anton Kállay and Darina Švárna and at the Faculty of Music of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Bratislava in the class of Daniel Buranovský. He has participated in master classes in piano accompaniment under the guidance of Brigitte Fassbaender and Wolfram Rieger. He was awarded at Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition (2004, 2005, 2017) and Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský International Vocal Competition (2008). He worked as a piano accompanist and music director at Wexford Opera Festival (2000-2004), in the course of which he also gave recital performances with distinguished soloists: Daniela Bruera, Igor Tarasov, Konstantin Andreev, Ekaterina Gubanova, Tatiana Monogarova, Markus Werba, Brandon Jovanovich, among others. He cooperates regularly with renown Slovak singers – soprano Adriana Kučerová, tenor Pavol Breslik and bass Štefan Kocán. Together with Pavol Breslik, he released a CD with songs of Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský, and another one with songs of Antonín Dvořák. He also cooperated with Adriana Kučerová on a CD with songs of Bela Bartók, Leoš Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů and Eugen Suchoň.
