Nathan Vale

Nathan Vale studied with Ryland Davies at the Royal College of Music and Benjamin Britten International Opera School. He was awarded an Independent Opera Vocal Scholarship to the National Opera Studio. He is a former winner of AESS English Song Competition as well as the Handel Singing Competition, where he was also awarded the Audience Prize. He continues his studies with David Pollard. With Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, he has sung Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio” conducted by Harry Christophers and “St John Passion” conducted by Paul Goodwin and with RAI Symphony Orchestra, among others. Other highlights include Evangelist in Bach’s “St Matthew Passion” with London Handel Players conducted by Laurence Cummings and with Royal Northern Sinfonia conducted by Thomas Zehetmair, Handel’s “Ode for St Cecilia’s Day” with both Israel Camerata Jerusalem Orchestra and Riga Chamber Choir conducted by Avner Biron, Bach’s “St Matthew Passion” with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano, Britten “Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings” at Hong Kong Festival, and Mozart’s Mass in C Minor with Bach Choir conducted by David Hill. He has appeared at Wigmore Hall, Three Choirs Festival, Hong Kong Festival. He has also recorded “Love’s Voice: Songs by Gurney, Ireland, Finzi, Venables” for SOMM Recordings. His operatic engagements have included Lurcanio (“Ariodante”) at the Bolshoi Opera, Contino Belfiore (“La finta giardiniera”) for Luxembourg Opera and for Opéra de Baugé, First Priest & First Armed Man (“Die Zauberflöte”) for English National Opera, Oronte (“Alcina”) for English Touring Opera, First Prisoner (“Fidelio”) for Glyndebourne Festival, Grimoaldo (“Rodelinda”) for Iford Arts Festival and Daniel Buchanan (“Street Scene”).
